AFTER Bride and Prejudice put an Indian spin on Jane Austen’s much-loved novel, Shakespeare could be next in line for the Bollywood treatment. That’s one goal for actor Naomi White, a finalist in the 2008 Miss India Australia quest.

 

A dozen of the most beautiful Indian-Australian women in the nation converged on Perth last night for the finals of the Miss India Australia contest. It was the first time that the nationwide contest was held in Perth and among the 12 finalists who competed for the coveted crown, four were from Perth.

Young Australian women of Indian origin took over the ramp bedecked in saris on November 3 in Sydney, for The Miss India-Australia contest (MIA).

Kiara Podesta, 22 years old, from Melbourne, wins the NRE MISS INDIA AUSTRALIA 2006 @ an energy packed, high production event at the Seymour Centre on 3 November in Sydney. Kiara, born to Italian father and Indian mother, won the judges votes with her smiles and confidence on stage and a flawless mono logue as her chosen talent for this contest.

The grand finale of the NRE MISS INDIA AUSTRALIA 2005 PAGEANT was held on 22October 2005 at Science Theatre in unsw, Kensington, Sydney. Affiliated to Miss India Worldwide, the winner of NRE Miss India Australia Pageantwill be the official entry to the 15th Miss India Worldwide event in Mumbai onJanuary 28, 2006

Vimala Raman, winner of Miss India Australia Pageant 2004, who represented Australia in the Miss India Worldwide Pageant in Jan 2005 in Mumbai is back in Sydney but only for a limited time.

K. Balachander, the doyen of Indian Cinema, has signed the talented & beautiful Vimala for his next film in Tamil. Vimala will play the lead role of the female actor in the film. The shooting will commence in April 2005 mainly on locations in India at Ooty & Chennai and in Sri Lanka.
